Written in Blood

WRITTEN IN BLOOD is an anthology series where each six-episode season will focus on the multi-dimensional retelling of one historic event of mass violence, from its circumstances to its aftermath. The first season is based on the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of India in 1919.

Adapted from the book Amritsar 1919: An Empire of Fear & the Making of a Massacre by KIM WAGNER, the miniseries will be a realistic retelling of the days & events leading up to, as well as those following, the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre of April 13, 1919, when British troops under the command of Gen. Dyer opened fire without warning on several thousand unarmed Indian protestors gathered in a public park. What followed was mass murder.

In the ensuing terror & chaos, hundreds run for their lives...piling up at gates...stampeding and stepping over each other, trying to escape death; dozens even jump into an open well to survive. But death is certain. Dyer orders his troops to scan and find piled up crowds. They continue firing at will....finally stopping only when they run out of ammunition.

The rulers of The Empire's greatest colony, growing paranoid and fearful of the restless Indian population, had resorted to increasingly brutal measures to subjugate the masses. All it took was one trigger-happy military commander to order indiscriminate firing on a peaceful gathering of protestors in a city garden. Over 1000 dead.
